Choosing a fiction tool by its workflow

Choose a writing tool by the sequence you actually use: discuss a direction, save a draft, revise a specific version, recover an interrupted task and take the work with you. An advertised output length does not answer these workflow questions.

Inspect how context is handled. Accepted prose, pending revisions and brainstorming should be distinguishable so an experimental note does not shape the entire manuscript.

The budget should also be understandable. An approved cap, recorded calls, failed-task records and released reservations provide concrete ways to assess paid writing.

Test language, continuity and revision with a small scene of your own. Comparing the same brief is more useful than relying on a ranking without a date, source or test method.
